Around 20 Teignmouth schoolchildren took time out from their Easter holidays for a beach clean this morning (Friday 12 April).

Pupils from Our Lady and St Patrick’s (OLSP) Primary School were joined by parents, staff and members of the community for the beach blitz.

‘The sun was shining and the children were very enthusiastic about finding the rubbish,’ said Faye Sendra, chair of the Friends of OLSP, which organised the event with help from Councillors David Cox and Dan Comer.

All the beach cleaners were rewarded with an ice cream donated by Jackman’s Toybox.

The school hopes to organise another beach clean in the summer holidays.
