A GOLD medal winning trampolinist took part in a drive to get youngsters at a Newton Abbot school more active.
Kirsty Way, a European Double Gold Medallist, joined students at Bearnes Primary School for their annual Sports and Enrichment week.
She put pupils’ fitness to the test in a circuit workshop before leading an assembly and holding a question and answer session.
Youngsters raised £1,600 with a sponsored walk last week. The money will be used to pay for Kirsty’s training and buy new sports equipment for the school.
Astro to Atlantic Women’s Rowing Crew also popped in during the week to host a rowing circuit session and answer questions.
The rowers, who made their way across the Atlantic earlier this year, taught children how to row with the perfect stroke.
A healthy bake sale drummed up £72 which has been passed onto the rowing club’s chosen charity, Devon Air Ambulance.
Nicky Dunford, from Link Academy Trust which looks after the Newton Abbot school, said: ‘Well done to Bearnes, they have had a fantastic week with such inspiring guests giving the children experiences they will carry with them forever.’
