A TEIGNBRIDGE yoga studio is to host a fundraising event for those displaced and made destitute in Gaza.

On Sunday, June 16, the Spirit Ash Studio in Ashburton will be running a fundraising event for Gaza, with all proceeds going to the Medical Aid for Palestinians charity. 

The founders and teachers from the Studio have curated a full day programme of yoga-focused events.

Emily Mascarenas, co-founder of the Spirit Ash Studio, said: ‘As a mother of five healthy babies, the feelings in in my heart around what is going on for other innocent families in Gaza has devastated me and I'm sure many of us feel the same.

‘It is very easy to feel helpless, so I wanted to do something to gather, to show support, to continue to raise awareness and send ripples of love and light out in any way possible.

‘The gathering in light event at Spirit Ash is timed around the summer solstice to come together as a community and to call in more light and love.

‘The organisers are welcoming anyone who would like to be involved in the event - for example stall holders to provide food and refreshments during the lunch break - to get in touch.

‘It would be wonderful to create lots of energy around this fundraiser and send much-needed funds and an offering of hope to families who really need our help.’
