QUEEN Street is now home to several Juneberry trees as the scheme to enhance the road draws to a close.
The trees were installed today, Wednesday, April 2, and mark the conclusion of the controversial joint venture by Teignbridge District Council and Devon County Council to enhance the Newton Abbot road.

A total of seven trees have been installed, five at the far western end and two at the junction with The Avenue.
The trees followed the installation of three new public benches, between Prospect Terrace and Fairfield Terrace.
The scheme was supposed to include tree pits, however due to ‘unexpected underground services not shown on historic plans’, they could not be installed below the footway at the western end of Queen Street.
