THE worst of the weather isn't over yet, as the Met Office warns that Storm Bert, currently blowing over the area, will continue into tomorrow (Sunday).

It has extended the Yellow Warning for wind until 9pm on Sunday night warning that locally severe gales are likely to affect many areas on the coast this weekend.

The strongest winds will be along coasts with gusts 60-70 mph possible around exposed headlands, while elsewhere gusts of 50-60 mph are possible, even for some inland locations.

The winds will start to ease across the southwest on Sunday morning, but may take until evening before easing across far southeast England.

And the Environment Agency has also issued a Flood Alert for the River Teign area with flooding possible for the Rivers Teign, Bovey and Lemon and coastal streams from Babbacombe to Kenton on Saturday evening and overnight into Sunday.

‘Heavy rain associated with Storm Bert is forecast from lunchtime Saturday until early Sunday morning,’ it said in a statement this morning.

‘Catchments are still wet following rainfall earlier in the week and river levels are expected to be high from 10pm Saturday night (Nov 23) and remain high throughout Sunday. We expect rivers to remain high throughout Sunday and may issue further flood warnings if required.’
