A popular back beach takeaway in Teignmouth has been destroyed by a devastating fire this morning (Sunday January 12).
LJs Beach Shack had been open for business for just half an hour when fire broke out at around 11:30am.
Despite the efforts of employees of the nearby Teign Boat Hire who tackled the flames with fire extinguishers, the fire quickly took hold and the wooden hut was well alight when firefighters arrived on scene.
It is understood that there were no injuries. However, the building has been gutted by the fire.
Three fire appliances attended the incident and firefighters worked through the morning to bring the blaze under control and to prevent it from spreading to the nearby Nik Nak Noodles and Blue Hut takeaway.
