Approximately one in every 12 residents in Devon currently has coronavirus, and the number of deaths of people with the virus is increasing.
This was the stark warning from Devon’s Director of Public health, Steve Brown, who has urged people to continue to take precautions.
The latest Government figures for Teignbridge show that between April 16 and 22, 487 people had a confirmed positive test result.
This shows a decrease of -6.3% compared to the previous seven days.
Between the same dates the district recorded five deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test.
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust reports that on April 19 there were 41 patients in hospital with coronavirus but none of them was on a mechanical ventilator.
Overall the number of tests conducted have been reducing since free testing was ended at the start of April.
Between April 15 and 21, there have been 7,544 tests in Teignbridge. This shows a decrease of -28.2% compared to the previous seven days.
