SHANTY singers from across the South West will be out in force for a new festival.
Crews will be performing in six venues in Cockwood and surrounding villages on March 25 and 26.
Celebrating songs of the sea, the event will feature 30 shanty groups from as far afield as Bristol and Cornwall.
Local groups the Back Beach Boys from Teignmouth, Missin’ Tackle from Brixham will be performing at the first Cockwood Shanty Festival.
Live music will be taking place at the Ship Inn, Anchor Inn and the village hall in Cockwood.
In Starcross, venues include St Paul’s Church and the Atmospheric Railway Inn and the Swan Inn at Cofton will be hosting groups.
Organisers said: ‘We have been blown away with the enthusiasm for out first festival.’
