HORDES of people flocked to Highweek in Newton Abbot over the weekend as the village hosted its annual show.

Visitors took part in a series of games at Green End, the showground, and browsed through a vast array of stalls selling all sorts of goodies.

Exhibitors showcased food, plants, vegetables, arts and crafts in the village hall in the hope of bagging top awards.

Big winners on the day included Janet White, Penny Hammond, Jayne Bush, Emma Wright, Holly Emerson, Shirley Frampton, Marian Collier and Rosemary Beardmore.

Saturday’s show was the culmination of a week of events including family bingo and a walking quiz around the village.

A spokesman said: ‘Sadly we had competition from the carnival events, but nonetheless we had a good week. Thanks to everyone who helped.’
