A NEWTON Abbot primary school has donated two trolleys-worth of goods to a local food bank as a part of its harvest festival celebration.

HITS Foodbank were the grateful recipients of the items, which were collected by Highweek School during its harvest festival.

‘What a wonderful haul and at a time when it is so greatly needed’ a spokesperson for the food bank said.

‘Thank you so much to all the children, staff and parents involved’ they added.

Elsewhere, the food bank, which supports families suffering food poverty in Teignbridge, are in need of volunteers on a Wednesday morning between 10am and 1pm.

Volunteers will be required to make up food parcels, mark up and put away stock and help out around the food bank.
