TWENTY firefighters fought a blaze on Ideford Common at Ashcombe today.

Crews from Teignmouth, Danes Castle and Dawlish were joined by a team from Bovey Tracey to tackle three acres of gorse and small trees which were reported to be well alight when the alarm was raised just before 11am.

Two hosereel jets and several beaters were used to extinguish the fire and damp down hotspots.
