TRIBUTES have been paid to a young Newton Abbot man who died aged 27.

A Go Fund Me page set up in memory of boxer Ryan Gooding by his brother Daniel has raised more than £4,500.

His family have described Ryan as a ‘kind, loving, compassionate’ person who touched the lives of many.

Ryan’s body was found at a bus stop in Kingsteignton on Sunday September 22.

An inquest opened by Coroner Alison Longhorn heard he was found by a motorist who had been driving past and stopped after initially thinking someone had fallen over. However, Ryan was found to be lying unresponsive.

There were no suspicious circumstances and the inquest has been adjourned for a full hearing at a later date.

A keen boxer, Ryan was also an advocate for men’s mental health.

The online fundraiser was set up by Daniel to raise money towards the cost of Ryan’s funeral.

Daniel said: ‘It’s a week since we lost Ryan and every day has been a struggle for a lot of us.

‘I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated to the just giving page so far.

‘Our gratitude is beyond measure, genuinely, thank you.’

He appreciated hearing from so many of Ryan’s friends and urged people to ‘keep talking to each other’.

The fundraiser said the family’s ‘hearts are shattered’.

It said Ryan ‘brought so much love, laughter, and fun into our lives, and it’s hard to imagine life without him

‘We know Ryan was so well known, fiercely loyal to a fault and had many friends.

‘He was a kind, loving and compassionate person who touched the lives of so many.

‘His passing has left so many people absolutely devastated, and many are struggling to cope with his loss.

‘As we come to terms with this unimaginable grief, we are now faced with the challenge of covering the unexpected costs of his funeral and memorial service.

‘We want to give Ryan the farewell he deserves, one that reflects the love and joy he brought to our lives and those who knew him.’
