As the autumn nights draw in it’s time to prepare for the skies to light up with dazzling fireworks as we celebrate Guy Fawkes night. We’ve found the best bonfires and most explosive fireworks displays in Teignbridge.

Saturday October 26

Teignmouth and Shaldon Bonfire and Fireworks Display

Shaldon Beach

This one’s a week earlier than usual due to the tide times. Landlubbers should beware as this year there’s a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ theme.

The fun starts at 5pm as the crowds start to gather on Shaldon beach for a fundraising barbecue.

6:30pm Pirates of the Caribbean themed bonfire on Shaldon Beach

7:15pm Fireworks from The Point in Teignmouth

Any contributions of clean wood for the bonfire should be brought to Shaldon Beach from 10am-12pm

Pirates of the Caribbean-themed Guys for the bonfire should be dropped off at Shaldon Beach between 2pm and 3pm.

Friday November 1

Buckland Athletic FC Firework Extravaganza

VX3 Stadium, Homers Heath, Kingskerswell Road, Newton Abbot TQ12 5JU

Gates open 5pm Bonfire lit 7pm Fireworks 7:30pm

Hot food and drinks available. Clubhouse bar open.

Adults £8 Children (under 16) £3. Ticket only.

The organisers have warned that there is no general parking on-site so you’re advised to arrive early to avoid the queues.

Moretonhampstead Firework Night

King George V Playing Fields, North Bovey Road, Moretonhampstead TQ13 8NZ

Gates open 6:30pm

Hot food and licensed bar including mulled wine.

Tickets £5 Under 3s Free (Tickets available on the gate only)

Again, there’s limited parking on-site but the playing fields are only a short walk from the town centre.

Saturday November 2

Newton Abbot Halloween Themed Firework Night

Newton Abbot Rugby Club, Rackerhayes, Rydon Industrial Estate, Kingsteignton, TQ12 3SJ

Gates open at 5pm Fireworks start at 8pm

Live music, food stalls, bars, Halloween competitions and fun for the kids. Fancy dress encouraged.

Tickets: Adults £8 Children £5 Under 3s Free. Family tickets (2 adults and three children) £20.

Teignmouth RFC Fireworks Night

Teignmouth Rugby Club, Bitton Park Road, Teignmouth

Gates open

The bar will be open with live music after the fireworks display.

Abbotskerswell Annual Fireworks Display

Abbotskerswell Recreation Ground, TQ12 5PD

As well as showstopping fireworks, raising funds for the upkeep of Abbotskerswell’s recreation area and new projects, there will be live music, hot drinks, a barbecue, sweets and cakes and a sparkler stall.

Tuesday November 5

Hearn Field Bonfire and Fireworks

Hearn Field, Combeinteignhead, TQ12 4RR

Gates open 5:30pm Bonfire 6:30pm Fireworks 7pm

Watch a stunning display on the banks of the River Teign. Warm yourself by the bonfire and tuck into locally sourced burgers. Cakes, hot drinks and a licensed bar will also be available.

Kingsteignton FC Fireworks

Gates open 5pm. Fireworks start at 7pm

Refreshments available with barbecue, bar and kitchen open for hot and soft drinks.

Saturday November 9

Ogwell Beacon and Fireworks

Ogwell Village Green TQ12 6AQ

Gates open at 6:30pm. The beacon will be lit at 6:45pm and the fireworks display will start at 7pm

For anyone sensitive to big bangs, save yourself for this colourful, low-noise display, designed to minimise any impacts on animals and wildlife. This display date is subject to weather conditions and the back-up date is the following Saturday (November 16).

This is a FREE event organised by Ogwell Parish Council and Ogwell Fair Committee.
