FIRE crews tackled a Dartmoor blaze that burnt through more than 10 hectares of land last night.

Crews from Bovey Tracey, Chagford and Moretonhampstead were among the stations to respond to the fire on Nattadon common.

Upon arrival, crews were faced with a fire on three fronts, including one measuring 25 metres, a second measuring 15 metres and a third fire front measuring 100 metres.

Crews requested a further three resources to assist with extinguishing the fire.

One 4x4 vehicle from Okehampton was mobilised.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘Crews confirmed that eleven hectares of fern, bracken and gorse has now been extinguished and are monitoring for hotspots.

‘The fire is believed to be accidental and crews have now come away.’
