Teignmouth overcame stubborn resistance to win this cup tie against West Division Millbrook and progress into the second round of the Throgmorton Cup.
With confidence high after the previous week's 6-0 win at Alphington, Teigns got off to a good start.
In the second minute slick passing put Gavin Breslan through on goal and he duly opened the scoring by tucking the ball into the bottom corner of the visitors' net.
Adam Hill went close to doubling the lead but Millbrook's keeper saved his crisp volley.
Teigns struggled to find the rhythm of their previous match and Millbrook deservedly levelled the tie on the half-hour when Craig Errington drove home from 20 yards.
A tactical change by manager Adrian Banning saw Teigns revert to a flat back four, moving Jaime Dodge to right back and Ashley Webber dropping back from left wing to left back, with Alex Blackburn and Matt Boyer taking the central defensive roles.
The change saw Teigns settle and the midfield trio of Geoff Breslan, Andy Breslan and Craig Stonelake began to dominate and Teigns ended the half in the ascendency.
Rob Perry replaced the injured G Breslan at half time and the second period began with Teigns searching for a second goal.
Perry's pace down the right wing opened up the visitors' defence and Webber and Hill's crosses from the left were at last providing some service for centre forward Adam Fay.
Urged on by captain Geoff Breslan, Teigns upped the anti, but it wasn't until the 70th minute that they broke through.
Fay held the ball up well and fed it through to Hill. His pass found Stonelake whose rasping drive flashed past the keeper to give Teigns a 2-1 lead.
Millbrook came back and keeper Liam Jones produced two good saves to protect his side's lead.
Fay then headed over the bar twice when ideally placed before G Breslan fired a direct free kick just wide.
A third goal came in the 89th minute when A Breslan burst forward with purpose from his deep midfield position and unleashed a scorching drive that Millbrook's keeper found too hot to handle and Fay was on hand to stab home the loose ball.
From the restart Millbrook attacked and Blackburn received his second yellow card for a bad tackle. From the resulting free kick Tom Cole scored to reduce the deficit.
However, Teigns played out the remaining few minutes of stoppage time to secure their passage though to the next round.
Tomorrow, Teignmouth are back in league action when Liverton visit Coombe Valley, kick-off 3pm.
l Teignmouth Reserves won their Les Bishop Cup first round tie in emphatic style.
Sharing the goals in the 11-2 victory over Broadhempston Reserves were Tristan Dorey, who notched a hat-trick, Alan Stuckey (two), Craig Breslan (two), with one apiece from Steve Procter, Dane Tyler, Nick Osbourne and Jamie Surman.
