Teignmouth Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) came to the aid of a yacht experiencing steering problems off Dawlish last night (Sunday April 27).
Volunteers from Teignmouth Lifeboat Station were paged at 8.11pm to assist a yacht at Boat Cove. The vessel, which had one crew member on board, was experiencing issues following the loss of the rudder.
Four RNLI volunteers responded to the callout and launched onboard the Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Claude and Kath.
They safely secured the vessel and brought the yacht crew to shore where the Dawlish Coastguard team provided further assistance and advice.
Teignmouth’s RNLI volunteers returned to the station where the waiting tractor driver and shore crew were on hand to recover the lifeboat, which was back on service shortly before 10pm.
