Teignmouth commemorated the 84th anniversary of the Battle of Britain on Sunday (September 15) with a wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial on the seafront.

The Battle of Britain was one of the most crucial battles of the Second World War and was the first decisive battle in history fought entirely in the air.

The brave men and women who fought during the three month aerial campaign have been honoured since 1943 when King George VI formally appointed September 15 as Battle of Britian Day to honour the hard work and determination of the many and the courage and sacrifice of the few.
