SEWAGE pollution alerts were issued at Teignmouth Holcombe Beach, after raw sewage was discharged into the sea due to the recent wet weather.
Campaign group Surfers Against Sewage advises all to stay out of the water until the pollution clears up.
Surfers Against Sewage describe the area: 'A small sand and rock beach located at the base of tall red cliffs, Holcombe is an isolated beach backed by cliffs and a railway line. A sewer overflow discharges into the Holcombe Stream 40m upstream of the beach.'
The incident is part of a long line of issues across the Westcountry, recently highlighted by an Environment Agency Report that rated South West Water the worst in the country in terms of its overall performance and second worst in terms of its pollution record.
