The traffic jams that brought Teignmouth to a standstill this week are set to ease after emergency roadworks on Bitton Park Road were lifted this afternoon.
The seaside town has been brought to a near standstill since Sunday due to temporary traffic lights as emergency electricity works closed one lane of the main road out of the town towards Bishopsteignton.
Traffic chaos was exacerbated due to a road closure on Higher Exeter Road, the main road out of Teignmouth towards Exeter.
The traffic disruption has resulted in delays of up to an hour for travellers coming into the town from Newton Abbot during the peak holiday season.
