TEIGNMOUTH teacher Ashley Smith had a field trip he will never forget – he took a ducking in freezing water and then fell off a rope course.
His mishaps amused the youngsters from the Mill Lane Academy (Inverteign), and he accepted the ribbings in good spirit.
He was leading Year 3/4 pupils on a three-day residential course at the Start Bay Centre, Slapton, and despite the icy weather, all had a good time.
The children took part in a range of challenges to test their team skills, including a night walk where they learned about nocturnal animals and their habitats in the local wood.
