PUPILS and staff at Bishopsteignton Primary School have had two new classrooms delivered on the back of a lorry.
And with a little help from a giant crane, the brand new modular facility has safely been put in place to accommodate mixed Year 5 and Year 6 classes.
The new arrival, ready for use at the start of the autumn term in September, was delivered early on Thursday morning all the way from south Wales.
It replaces an old single classroom which was starting to feel its age. Preparatory work for the enterprise got underway in the spring term.
Headteacher Dave Killoran said after the moving-in operation: ‘The construction of our new classrooms shows a considerable investment on behalf of Devon County Council and reflects the positive impact Bishopsteignton Primary has been having on the community for many years.’
He added: ‘I am delighted and proud to be the headteacher of a school of fantastic children, committed and talented staff and supportive parents.
‘Due to the expansion, we now have spaces in all year groups for new children and families to be part of our exciting future.’
The school, now able to boast seven instead of six classes, was anxious to thank the residents of nearby Cockhaven Close for their patience and support throughout the building project.
