A CARER from Bishopsteignton has clocked up walking one million steps in a month to raise money for charity.
Suzy Acampo, who works at Bishopsteignton House in Forder Lane, completed her target and raised £400 for Dementia Care.
Colleagues and residents at the home supported her effort to reach the milestone.
Manager Carol McCarthy explained Suzy had applied to take part in the challenge and had a goal each day which she aimed to reach.
Her steps were recorded on a Fitbit from when she woke up until she went to bed.
The number of steps each day were also recorded at the home so everyone could keep track of her progress.
Carol said: ‘We are all so proud of her.
‘A million steps is a lot and she worked very hard to achieve it.
‘Our residents were aware of what she was doing and were very happy and thankful for what she has done.’
Suzy managed to get to the million by regular walks, particularly coastal walks, with her husband.
The money was raised through donations and many of the residents’ families helped add to the total.
