THE street furniture that is to make up the final phase of a controversial enhancement scheme to a Newton Abbot road has been delivered.
Devon County Council has now received delivery of three benches, planters and a number of hanging baskets.
‘We hope to be able to have these installed as soon as possible and we are currently working with our contractors to identify their availability and suitable installation dates’ a spokesman for Devon County Council said.
The street furniture marks the final phase of the joint venture between Devon County Council and Teignbridge District Council.
The final phase of the controversial scheme involves the installation of additional public seating; signage and road markings; hanging baskets; a Zebra Crossing at the War Memorial and the planting of trees and flowers.
The timeline, as stated by Devon County Council on its Queen Street webpage, is for phase seven to be completed between January and February.
