TEIGNMOUTH and Shaldon have been taking a battering from Storm Babet.
The Strand at Shaldon has been closed both ways today as the road surface was considered by highways engineers to be in a poor condition.
Traffic reports said the road was closed between the Ferry Boat Inn to the Green and Fore Street but that traffic was said to be moving well.
Villagers warned that the road was closed due to the storm damage and damage to railings.
There were also reports of a beach hut lost to the turbulent waves which have been pounding the seafront and particularly The Point area.
The hut had been a permanent structure on the Point but was washed away overnight.
Boats moored the River Teign estuary were being battered about.
