SPECIALIST equipment from Newton Abbot Fire Station was called in to help deal with a hotel fire this morning, Sunday.
Fire Control received reports of a fire in an extraction fan of a hotel kitchen at Cockington with Chelston shortly before 9.30am.
A spokesperson said: ‘Two fire engines from Paignton and one from Torquay stations were mobilised immediately, supported by an aerial ladder platform from Torquay station.
'On arrival crews confirmed smoke issuing and set to work with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus standing by, small tools, a thermal imaging camera, one covering hose reel jet and one safety jet.
‘This was later increased to also include two hose reel jets and a dry powder extinguisher.
‘Crews also requested the attendance of one of our fire engines from Newton Abbot to supply a specialist snake eye camera to thoroughly check the ducting system for any further areas of fire.
‘Crews confirmed this to be a fire within the ducting system of a commercial property consisting of three floors.
‘The fire is now exinguished and the cause of the fire has been confirmed as accidental.
‘All persons were accounted for.’
