ANTLERS were donned by the children of Hennock Community Primary School as they raced around the village in aid of Rowcroft Hospice.
Narrowly missing one of this winter’s many storms, each class completed laps around Hennock, guided by volunteers from the local community.
The run concluded in the school hall, where refreshments were served and medals presented by none other than Father Christmas himself.
Sarah Luxton said: ‘It’s gone really well. We had to make a few adjustments but we didn’t let the rain stop us. The whole school was in the community spirit and our amazing volunteers came prepared.
‘The kids had a really great time. Primary school is all about making memories and as a school, we want to create a learning environment where kids look back at their time here fondly. The Rudolph run is something that’s really different from their day-to-day. They get to go out and run wild in the village and that makes it extra special.
‘But that’s why it takes a lot of work. The volunteers that come out and help are instrumental in allowing them to do this safely and that’s a testament to this community and what a great place Hennock is.’
Overall, Hennock made over £600 for Rowcroft Hospice.
‘We’re so grateful to all the amazing children and teachers of Hennock School who have taken part in our Rudolph Run to raise vital funds for the hospice,’ said Alexia Croft, Rowcroft’s Community Engagement Manager. ‘They have been totally inspirational. The funds that they have raised in sponsorship will be used to care for local patients with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones, helping them to make every day the best day possible.
‘Our Rudolph Run is part of our No One Alone Appeal that’s working towards a vision of specialist end-of-life care for all. Every penny raised will make such a difference in helping Rowcroft to be by the sides of more people who need us across South Devon.’
