SHALDON Singers begin rehearsals for the new season on Thursday, September 8.

Under musical director Tim Crompton the programme will include Elgar’s From the Bavarian Highlands and Holst’s Christmas Day, together with works by Eric Whitacre, John Rutter and Ola Gjeilo.

The Singers enjoyed a successful year in 2021-22, back to live rehearsals and performing in spite of Covid restrictions, and contributed to the Platinum Jubilee celebrations with their concert in May.

They also raised £780 for two local charities – Devon Freewheelers and HITS – from retiring collections.

The choir, which numbers around 60, would like to welcome new singers to join them this September. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings in St Peter’s Church, Shaldon.
