A TEIGNMOUTH shopper was ‘horrified’ to find a yoghurt she bought on her Christmas shopping trip was out of date.
Anna Grayson said on Monday: ‘I have just got back from what I hoped would be my last Christmas shopping.
‘I am horrified to find the yoghurt I have just bought is seriously out of date. This is clearly a public health issue and will need to be reported. I am utterly appalled. This is totally unacceptable and shows a staggering incompetence which is frankly beyond belief.’
Anna contacted the Teignmouth Post and Morrisons.
She said she had since been offered an e-voucher and verbal apology but said: ‘It’s not really me they should be apologising to, but all their customers. I have told them I want to hear evidence of substantial changes being made in the Teignmouth store to make sure all their customers are safe.
‘In the meantime shoppers do need to be very vigilant in checking use by dates on perishable items such as dairy produce and meat.
‘Seems you can’t trust all stores to check the shelves and clear out of date produce – even after nearly two whole weeks!’
A spokesperson for Morrisons said: ‘This does not meet our usual standards and we apologise to Ms Grayson and have offered her a gesture of goodwill.’
