A SHOPLIFTER who stole razors from Newton Abbot’s Boots store has been jailed.
Alexander Edward Parsons, aged 41, of Hele Road, Torquay, admitted stealing three Gilette razors, worth £67.47p, from the town’s Boots store. He was sent to prison for four weeks.
South and West Devon Magistrates' Court recorded the sentence was because ‘Offence so serious because the offence was aggravated by being committed whilst subject to a community sentence, because given prolific antecedent history and on community order which was also in breach at the time. No other realistic alternatives.’
He was ordered to pay £64.47 compensation.
The jail sentence will run concurrently with a 12-week sentence he received for having an article for use in connection with theft, a set of pliers, in Queen Street, Newton Abbot. He had pleaded guilty to this charge.
He was already subject to a community order made by South & West Devon Magistrates on June 9, of last year.
