MEMBERS of Newton Abbot's budding community shed group have installed a table atop a tree stump in the heart of the town.

Albert, Pete and Tim, three of Newton Abbot Community Shed's very best, were hard at work in Courtenay Street today, December 4, as the trio installed a table atop the tree stump outside Waterstones.

The table now sits where an alder tree once stood: an alder tree which was felled earlier in the year because it was diseased.

Shoppers can now soak up the atmosphere of Courtenay Street like never before: meet friends with coffee in hand; check their phones or simply rest their feet before setting off again.

A generous benefactor, the Cancer Research UK Kids Emporium to be exact, provided Albert, Pete and Tim with a cuppa and some biscuits to celebrate a job well done.
