Four sewage alerts have been issued for beaches in Dawlish, Holcombe and Shaldon today following heavy rainfall.
The warnings for Dawlish Town beach, Coryton Cove, Holcombe and Shaldon were issued by Surfers Against Sewage who said: “Storm sewage has been discharged from a sewer overflow in this location within the last 48 hours.”
Surfers Against Sewage monitors water quality at over 450 river and coastal locations and shares the information via its Safer Seas and Rivers Service (SSRS) app to enable members of the public to swim, surf and splash without the risk of becoming unwell.
