Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has prompted a raft of sewage alerts along the Teignbridge coast.
Storm sewage has been discharged from sewer overflows at beaches at Shaldon, Teignmouth, Holcombe and Coryton Cove according to Surfers Against Sewage. The environment charity said bathing is not advised at these locations due to reduced water quality.
Surfers Against Sewage monitors water quality at over 450 river and coastal locations and shares the information via its Safer Seas and Rivers Service (SSRS) app to enable members of the public to swim, surf and splash without the risk of becoming unwell.
