FIREFIGHTERS from Newton Abbot have released these images of a car being destroyed by a fire.
On their Facebook page they say: ‘One pump from Newton Abbot fire station was initially mobilised to reports of a vehicle fire on the road toward Trago.
‘Upon arrival, the van was obviously well alight with smoke and flames issuing from the vehicle.
‘The IC (Incident Commander) made the decision to request a second appliance, also from Newton Abbot, so that crews had sufficient water to deal with the incident.
‘While the second appliance was en route, the IC committed two firefighters wearing BA (Breathing Apparatus) into the risk area to tackle the fire.
‘They achieved this by using a hose reel jet and a main 45mm attack jet to extinguish the flames.
‘As you can see from the pictures, due to the dry conditions, the fire had spread to verge along the junction.
‘Crews also used the jets in order to extinguish this fire.
‘Crews worked well together as a station to quickly bring the incident to a safe conclusion. ‘Unfortunately however, the van was 100% destroyed by the fire.’
The fire happened on Friday morning and Newton Abbot Fire Station has posted them on their Facebook page.
