A Sea Shanty Festival held in Kingskerswell earlier this month has been hailed a ‘great success’ by organisers.
The festival, held at Kingskerswell Village Hall on February 1, was a complete sell out. ‘We were turning people away at the door,’ commented Roger Jones from Kingskerswell Action Group.
Five Sea Shanty bands took part in the event: The Out of Tunas; Midsummer Gurnards; The Wrecked Again Crew; All Hands on Deck; and The Harbour Bouys.
The proceeds of the event will go towards Kingskerswell Action Group to improve the appearance of the village and the quality of life in Kingskerswell.
The group recently donated £800 to provide a shed for the village toddler group and it spends £6000 per year to maintain flower planters around the village.
