PILES of rubbish and the remains of a bonfire have been left at a Dawlish beauty spot.

The discarded bits of cardboard and other debris were found at Coryton Cove.

Critics say the littering is a regular occurrence at the beach.

One said: ‘It’s a nightly occurrence. I’m tempted to pop down one evening and offer whoever it is a bin bag.’

Another complained it was ‘just lazy’.

It has also been pointed out that there is a waste bin located at the top on leaving the beach by the ramp.

The rubbish dumping comes as Teignbridge Council is carrying out essential paving repairs at Coryton.

Until March 31, plant machinery is using the seawall to access the Cove so visitors have been advised to take care when visiting the area.

Last week there was a fall of soil and small rocks onto the beach in the same location.

The natural occurrence is due to the iconic red Brecia sandstone cliffs.

Visitors have been warned further movement is possible.

The beach remains open but visitors have been asked to stay away from the base of the cliffs at both ends of the beach.

A temporary cordon was put in place for safety reasons.
