A NEW team vicar has joined the Haldon Mission Community with Shaldon Parish.
Taking up the position of Team Vicar of the Benefice of Teignmouth, Ideford with Luton, Ashcombe, and Bishopsteignton is the Revd David Wilkie
Rev’d Dave was licensed as Team Vicar and Children and Families Mission Enabler last Thursday at St Michael’s Church by Bishop Jackie Searle, the Acting Bishop of Exeter.
‘I am delighted that David is coming to our Mission Community as Team Vicar, said team rector Rev Carol Green. ‘He will work across the Team providing ministry in all the churches with a half time responsibility for overseeing and developing our ministry to young people.’
Prior to his new position Dave was curate in the Parish of St James’ Church, Taunton, in the Diocese of Bath and Wells.
Joining him are his wife Donna and four children Joy, Edie Dora and Wilf.
‘I was born in Scotland but moved around the UK and even a stint in Tunisia with my family as a child, said Dave.
‘I’ve studied Astrophysics, youth ministry and theology and a couple more theology degrees for good luck.
‘As a couple, and then as a family, we’ve lived in the westcountry for many years and I’m now looking forward to meeting people in my new role here in Teignbridge.’
