RESURFACING will be carried out next month on the A379 through Exminster.
The four-week scheme is planned to be undertaken in two phases.
Work between the A379 Sannerville Way junction and Reddaway Drive by Exminster Garage will start on Monday, February 5, and will continue until Friday, February 16.
Access from the Swan’s Nest roundabout into Exminster from the South will be maintained during this phase, and the road will be fully open over the weekend of Saturday, February 10, and Sunday, February 11.
From Monday, February 19, until Friday, March 1, resurfacing will take place between the Deepway Lane junction and Swan’s Nest Roundabout.
Access into Exminster from the A379 Sannerville Junction will be maintained during this phase.
The road will again be fully open over the weekend of Saturday, February 24, and Sunday, February 25.
Councillor Stuart Hughes, Cabinet Member for Highway Management, said: 'It’s essential this scheme is carried out to restore the condition of the road surface.
'It’s a busy road so unfortunately this work will cause some disruption but our highways teams will aim to reduce that as much as possible.'
Councillor Alan Connett, County Councillor for Exminster and Haldon, said: 'I am delighted that the main road through Exminster is to be resurfaced especially after so many local concerns and complaints about potholes and the general deterioration.
'The disruption cannot be avoided, while the work is being done, so please allow some extra time for travel while the resurfacing is taking place.'
