TWO days of top dinghy and catamaran racing were celebrated at the River Exe Regatta, writes Heather Davies.

It is an annual event that attracts entrants from all along the river, taking part in a variety of activities over two weekends.

There are competitions for fishing, cruiser races, shore based activities and two days of Dinghy and Catamaran racing.

The dinghy racing was organised by Starcross Yacht Club on July 8 and 9 – the weekend of interesting changeable weather!

The courses were set with a start line from the clubhouse to a channel marker buoy, together with three different courses for the fast boats, slower boats and the catamarans.

It was a good job the competitors were all familiar with the marker buoys and could navigate their boats around the right marks for their fleets!

And the Race Officer team also had the task of monitoring all boats and their progress so that all completed the races successfully, and trophies and awards were presented on the Sunday afternoon.

A great celebration of water sports, time to social with sailing friends and all looking forward to next year.
