pupils at Chudleigh Knighton Primary School hope they have become part of a world record after joining hundreds of other schools up and down the country signing and singing at 2.45pm on Wednesday.
The annual Sign2Sing world record attempt is to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by the deaf.
Trainee teacher Heidi Hammond said the children were enjoying learning sign language so much she had set up a Thursday lunchtime club.
Two years ago a little more than 2,000 took part in the country. Last year that had rocketed to more than 94,800, and on Wednesday more than 200,000 was predicted.
At Chudleigh Knighton 99 pupils and staff took part.
