A Newton Abbot charity that supports young people who have had a tough start in life has received a vital funding boost thanks to Children In Need.

Life Chance Trust has secured a contribution to its running costs for the next three years from the official charity of the BBC.

Children in Need mascot Pudsey Bear delivered the good news in person at a Life Chance Trust activity day last week, much to the delight of the young people Life Chance helps along with staff and volunteers.

‘This generous support will make a lasting impact, allowing us to reach even more young people across Devon and give them the tools, support and opportunities they need to build brighter futures,’ said Life Chance Trust head Hannah Moon.

‘We’re incredibly grateful for this support and can’t wait to see the impact it will make in the months and years ahead,’ a Life Chance Trust spokesperson added.

Life Chance Trust helps young people aged 16-25 to deal with the effects of childhood trauma through mentoring and life skills training. It also offers young people therapeutic, practical and financial support to help with the transition to adulthood.

Led by the needs, hopes and aspirations of the young people it works with, the charity focuses on helping to improve mental health and build confidence, self-esteem, resilience and independence.

Children in Need exists to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. The charity hopes that every child in the UK can have a safe, happy and secure childhood and the chance to reach their potential. It currently contributes around £91.5 million pounds to nearly 1,500 charities and children’s projects.
