TEIGNBRIDGE Council has been accused of prejudice after turning down an application for a gipsy site in Whitestone.
Amanda Tully, who represented applicant Clarance Ware at the planning committee on Monday last week, told the Advertiser that she will be encouraging Mr Ware to take the matter to the highest level.
'We will be taking this to appeal and citing gipsy prejudice.
'The way he has been treated is second rate. I will be encouraging Mr Ware to take the appeal to the highest level because it is disgraceful the way he has been treated,' she said.
Teignbridge Council has denied the charge, saying that it takes seriously its commitment to offer fair and equal services.
A spokesman said: 'Generally we take a favourable view of planning applications for sustainable gypsy sites as we realise there's a local shortage.'
