The Court Leet and Court Baron of the Manorial Borough of Newton Abbot have honoured  Austin's department store for their 100 years of  service to the town of Newton Abbot.

A certificate was presented to Austin’s managing director David Austin  by the Portreeve Allan Vizor, on behalf of Keith Stokes-Smith Lord of the Manorial Borough of Newton Abbot and members of  the Court Leet and Court Baron and the Freeholders.

‘It was a real family affair with the present generation David Austin and his sister Mary White, plus the future generation  in the making Catherine White, David's niece in attendance,’ said Allan.

‘On behalf of myself and the  members of the Courts we really wish to give special thanks to David Austin and the family  for their generous hospitality  and making us very welcome. Here's to the next 100 years. ‘
