The Court Leet and Court Baron of the Manorial Borough of Newton Abbot held the annual portreeve’s dinner with mine host portreeve Carol Bunday.
It was a very successful evening.
Before activity began, the courts, led by the portreeve Carol Bunday, held two minutes’ silence for the People of Ukraine.
The dinner was held at the Royal British Legion in Newton Abbot, and after Eveline Davie, the borough cryer, said grace, staff served up a great feast with all the trimmings.
At the end of the meal the usual toasts were observed.
Janet Parrott MBE proposed the loyal toast to the Queen in her platinum year. Bailiff Allan Vizor proposed a toast to Newton Abbot Town Council, formed in 1974

Portreeve Carol gave a short speech thanking all concerned for making the evening a great success and for those who contributed to the raffle.
The raffle was executed in true form by the bailiff Allan Vizor and the constable Ann Jones
The raffle was held in aid of the portreeve’s charity Kings Care, and raised the sum of £108, which will be added to the running total of the charity which ends at the end of her term of office.
All had a good time and the evening came to an close with borough cryer Eveline Davies ringing her bell and shouting: ‘Oyez! Oyez! Oyez!’
