A POPULAR footpath in Dawlish has reopened to the public.
Lea Mount has been closed off for several months while work continues on stabilising the cliffs above.
Now, Network Rail has announced the footpath from Lea Mount down into Marine Parade is now open.
A spokesman for the South West Rail Resilience Programme said: ‘ Thank you for your patience while this path has been closed – this was necessary to keep everyone safe when we have been undertaking our resilience work on the cliffs between Dawlish and Holcombe.’
Not all paths over Lea Mount are open yet as work is continuing on the cliffs between Dawlish and Holcombe.
Storms earlier this year slowed progress as significant rainfall led to several landslips in the area.
The work involves installing a system of soil nails and netting to reduce the risk of rocks falling onto the railway below.
