HUNDREDS of people came out in force to show their support for the recently formed Brexit Party tonight.
Former UKIP frontman Nigel Farage, who formed the group, and his team of candidates standing in this month’s EU elections held a rally in Trago Mills car park earlier this evening.
Ex-veteran Conservative Ann Widecombe, who joined the pro-Brexit clan last week, was one of the guest speakers.
She told the crowds that she was ‘fed-up with patronising nincompoops’ who keep saying Brexiteers have no idea why they voted to leave the European Union in the referendum nearly three years ago.
‘We are being let down by our politicians and the government. We voted to leave, we want to leave and we will leave!,’ she declared.
The Brexit Party - fighting to leave the EU without a withdrawal agreement - is fielding six candidates across the south west to contest seats in European elections on May 23, including Ms Widecombe.
Totnes resident Nicola Darke, former soldier James Glancy, charity worker Christina Jordan, financial services worker Ann Tarr and Rear Admiral Roger Lane-Nott are also standing.
They’ll be going up against the likes of Rachel Johnson, the sister of former London mayor and MP Boris.
Nigel Farage told tonight’s audience that he believes Theresa May had made Britain a ‘laughing stock’ and criticised her failed Brexit deal as ‘the worst in history.’
All of the candidates who spoke urged voters to send a long-lasting message to Westminster by backing their party.
