POLICE in Newton Abbot joined forces with the British Transport Police on Friday the 13th to tackle crime on the railway network.
Friday’s joint operation saw various plained clothes and uniformed officers Jon patrol around the station and surrounding area.
One person who got on a train at Newton Abbot was intercepted at the next stop and detained as officers carried out a search for drugs.
A quantity of cannabis was found.
The passengers was arrested for drug offences and for assaulting an emergency service worker.
A spokesman for Newton Abbot police said: ‘Several other people were searched and one person even asked a plain clothes officer if he wanted to buy drugs.’
