A solar array at Bovey Tracey and plans to restore a fire damaged mill at Kingsteignton are among this week’s planning applications.

Plans for the solar array of 20 panels in a paddock next to Northcombe, Bovey Tracey, have gone in to the Dartmoor National Park Authority.

The applicants, A & T Holman and W Lewis, say the solar array will be small-scale, for Northcombe, a single domestic property with a two generation family living there.

Installing solar panels for domestic use is in line with government policies and will contribute to the targets set for renewable electricity development.

Excess energy is going to be stored in batteries in the house to make the most of the renewable energy produced.

They stress there will be no loss of agriculture land as the sheep can graze underneath the solar array most of the year.

Pinnacle Architectural Design and Project Management Limited have applied to Teignbridge Council to extend the warehouse with associated parking at Brookside, Collett Way, Newton Abbot.

The Timber Mill has applied to build four agricultural buildings to facilitate operations at existing forestry enterprise at Moorwood, Gipsy Corner, Bovey Tracey. An application has also gone in for the retention of an acoustic log processing building.

The restoration of fire-damaged mill and its conversion to a dwelling at Higher Mills, Crossley Moor Road, Kingsteignton, is also on the list for plans to be considered.

Plans to replace agricultural barns and a workshop with five homes have gone in for Stancott Farm, Chudleigh. There are also plans for four dwellings at Badlake Hill, Dawlish.

Every week dozens of planning applications are submitted to the local councils, and the coronavirus pandemic has not changed that.
