A man from Bristol was taken to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, with suspected spinal injuries after his light aircraft crashed near Ridgey Croft, Holne, on Saturday afternoon.
The pilot, 59, who was the only occupant, broke his arm and sustained facial injuries.
It is thought that the Avid microlite kit plane, which made an emergency landing, had engine failure.
A South Western Ambulance Service spokesman said: 'The pilot was able to raise the alarm himself and was later admitted to Derriford hospital by air ambulance having first been attended by a crew from Ashburton Ambulance Station.'
A police spokesman said: 'Seven police officers attended. Targett Aviation in Gloucestershire collected the plane on Wednesday.'
