UPDATE: NORMAL rail services have been resumed following last night's tragedy when a person was hit by a train near Powderham.

Train lines between Exeter and Newton Abbot were shut last night following the incident.

Great Western Railway said: ‘Due to a person being hit by a train between Exeter St David’s and Newton Abbot all lines were closed.'

British Transport Police were on the scene during the afternoon at Powderham, alongside Devon and Cornwall Police.
