A teenager, who was told she had a form of blood cancer three years ago, has been selected as an Olympic torchbearer.

Bea Holman-Brooks, 14, from Liverton, is a former pupil of Blackpool Primary School and a student at South Dartmoor Community College, Ashburton.

She was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in January 2009 and underwent chemotherapy and other treatment for more than two years.

While ill she helped raise more than £40,000 for Clic Sargent and also did a lot of work for the National Blood Donor Service.
